All Access- Teams & Structure

From time to time, some of the questions that I get asked are, “How are things structured around Access and the Family Ministry? What teams do you have?”

We are all about small groups at Access. We believe that sustained, long-term life change happens best in community and relationships. Everything, starting with babies, at Access is structured around small groups.

Waumba Land (0-4 years old) is not just a nursery, but a specifically designed small group environment to give children a lasting first impression of their Heavenly Father. UpStreeet (k-5th grade) for all of the amazing worship, crazy antics of our hilarious hosts, and relevant videos and storytelling, is all about setting up small groups of children with their leaders to help those children learn how to trust Jesus in all aspects of life.

Teams in Waumba are designed so that each small group at each hour has a leader and co-leader. They work together under the leadership of their Coach. UpStreet small groups are designed much the same way. UpStreet also has a production team of singers, actors, producers, directors, and a technical team. We also have a Leadership Room team to care for leaders’ kids as leaders prepare and serve on Sunday mornings. Lastly, we have a Host Team to greet and welcome guests and visitors. Total, Family Ministry needs about 50 people at this stage in the life of our church to run smoothly. Throw in Student Ministry and we have about 60-65 leaders.

If you’re looking for a place to jump in and serve at Access, we’d love to talk to about whether Family Ministry might be the spot for you. If you’re leading in another church, I’d love to hear about how you structure teams, especially if you do multiple services in a portable environment.

Hey Adam, we haven’t met yet but we have been coming to Access since June 1st. We just moved here from Georgia to send our daughter to the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind. We left an awesome church which was portable and is almost 2 years old. Check out there website and the pastors blog. OakLeafChurch.com and YouCanKnowGod, his name is Michael Lukaszewski he’s from Jacksonville. Might give you some ideas and they love helping other churches. Anyway, can not wait to met you and to get involved not only as a volunteer but in a Lifegroup. Tammy Parson

Structure is key. It’s so important to have the right care structure in place as you grow – thankfully you’ve got NPCC on your back who KNOW structure and can help.

I’m the creative director for our elementary program (Uptown Discovery Village) and direct our version of KidStuf (DV:FX)… structure has been key even for all of the production elements. Each volunteer is basically in a “work-based” small group – for some the only small group they’re involved in. But then they are able to receive encouragement and care and community… because of this we had a 98% retention of all of our major volunteers. The only volunteers that stepped down are doing so for family/having a baby/caring for a parent, etc. We know that that percentage is directly related to the structure of care…

Anyway, nice blog! GO ORANGE!! I’ll be back…
