iMix Contest
Sunday is my birthday and my brother just sent me an iTunes gift card. With all of the songs to choose from, I don’t know where to start.
So, I’m holding the first “OrangeFamilies iMix Contest”.
Here are the rules:
1. Create the best 10 song mix you possibly can.
2. Post the list of songs as a comment or create an iMix and post the link in the comments.
3. If I pick your iMix, I will spend my birthday money to download it. Then I will send you a $10 iTunes gift card of your own.
4. I will pick the winning iMix on Tuesday at noon.
Hints: I need a good driving mix or some inspiring running music. My 80’s collection and rap playlists are seriously lacking. I work at a church that has killer musicians, so I’m doing alright in the Christian music category.
To publish your iMix:
Select the playlist you want to publish as an iMix and choose File > Create an iMix. Enter the requested information about your playlist and click Publish.
Okay folks, here it is: the one and only entry required to trim Adam down to a 7-minute-mile pace and have him rockin’ that Maxima out all summer long.

No one else needs to compete. Really. You can’t top this iMix.
Oh, and yes, there are 12 songs. I’ll spot you the extra $2.
Clever way to let everyone know about your birthday, by the way!
that’s so cool! i would not have thought of doing that, but i think it’s a great idea!
Rich, well done. Your choices are excellent, all 12 of them. The rules of the game clearly state there is a ten (10) song max. You’ll need to narrow your iMix or be disqualified (the $2 bribe won’t work on me).
I’m a benevolent guy. Letting you pick your favorite 10 of the 12.
Missed ya’ tonight. Hope it was a good party!
Okay, not sure these are “appropriate” for your family website, but notice that I recommend the “clean version.” Here is my Rock-n-Rap iMix…
Arden’s Rock n’ Roll iMix
Let me know what you think..
Arden

I tried to do an IMix but only 5 of the 10 showed up. So here is a list that April and I created for her volleyball team warm-up. It is a very motivating list that I use for running too. I hope you enjoy it.
Breathe into Me – End of Silence – RED
I’m Not Alright – Wow Hits 2007 – Sanctus Real
Collide – Dying for a Heart – Krystal Meyers
Dare You to Move – The Beautiful Letdown – Switchfoot
Beautiful Love – WOW Hits 2006 (Disc 2) – The Afters
Ammunition – The Beautiful Letdown – Switchfoot
Be My Escape – WOW Hits 2006 (Disc 2) – Relient K
Stars – Nothing is Sound – Switchfoot
Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been – WOW Hits 2007 – Relient K
Strong Tower – WOW Hits 2006 (Disc 2) – Kutless
Ok, if we’re talking about a running playlist, here’s what I’ve got…
- Enter Sandman – Metallica (to get you going)
- Another Brick in the Wall – Pink Floyd (As you make that first turn, about 5 minutes in, this will help. It’s a long, entertaining song)
- Smack That – Akon and Eminem – (It’s a bad song, but you can download the clean version. I could picture you dancing around as you run. This will get you to about 17 minutes)
- Dead and Bloated – STP (At 17 min – 22 min, you’ll need something to sing along with. This is a rockin song and will take your mind off of running)
- Makes me Wonder – Maroon 5 (It’s a fun song… You’ll be be-boppin as you run.)
- Faithfully – Journey (Just trust me on this one… It’ll pump you up baby!)
- Bawitdaba – Kid Rock (Ok, by now you’ve been running for 30 min. and need a big pump up song. This will do it for sure!)
- Crazy Train – Ozzy (One last pump up song before the cool down!)
- Sabrosa – Beastie Boys (Starting the cooldown. This is for a fast paced walk and then into the stretching.)
- Superstar – Carpenters (“Talk about Lame”… You’ll be crying by the end of this song! It’ll wrap up your run perfectly!)
So, there you have it… A fun, emotional, exciting, keep you guessing run. You’ll LOVE it!
I don’t know about a list, but if you search for Podrunner on the iTunes store, you can download hour-ish mixes of fast beats to run to…pretty nice
My humble submission…
Adam’s Birthday iMix
Enjoy! It’ll rock your face off.
Brian, “We Built This City” alone might win you this contest- you could only pray.
WOW. I thought I was taking a pretty big gamble with that one!
Can you say flashback! The 80’s were great. Terea made me throw the Duran Duran in I didn’t have that in my tape deck.

Last Night, the Strokes
Happy Birthday!! jill
O.k. Adam, Happy Birthday, and thanks for including me … This is fun! I am supposed to be doing homework, but you -being the greatly equipped fisher of men that you are- have found my taste of bait and reeled me in…
I labeled it Top 10 for the contest, its actually called ReigningSonShine, like when you see the sun’s reys coming down through the clouds looking like bands of rainwater- the clouds are there but the sun is over them and will not be held back or drowned out. The intro. allows you time to get ready, you know stretch, do sit-ups, get a last sip of water, and then it picks up a lot. Mostly rap & raggae, I don’t have any 80s to share!
Anyway…..
Arden, I love your mix, I am going to download it too, thanks.
Happy Birthday again!
The first time ever I saw your face
the look of love

I know you don’t need anymore Christian music favorites, but all my favorites are Christian music. These are great for driving, but some of them aren’t on i-tunes so I couldn’t publish the whole list. Here it is.

Okay, do we get to vote?
I think everyone who couldn’t be bothered to make an iMix should be immediately disqualified. The whole point of the contest is to use a $10 iTunes card! Plus, I’m too lazy to go searching for tunes manually.
So, I clicked on Zoie & Michael’s iMix. Nice.
After I woke up, I clicked on Tim’s.
Since it seems wrong to vote for myself, I gotta go with Tim’s iMix. “Devil Went Down to Georgia” was inspired. But I’m having a hard time picturing Tim in his truck listening to Tone-Loc.
Fun exercise!
One of my songs was somehow erased?
It was ‘Never Give In’ by Christafari featuring Mr. Lynx
It goes at the end
Happy Birthday Adam. Here is my mix, late, but since I worked on it so hard I thought I would give it anyway. It is a mix that ranges from 1980 to 1989 and it includes Rock, Blues, Alternative, R&B/Soul, Hip Hop, Country, Dance. All the songs are clean, I have checked all the lyrics. It is funny how many songs there were that I did not know had bad lyrics; surprize, suprize. One of the songs, Rappers Delight, is considered the first Rap song by most people. I tried to make it well rounded with some funny songs to keep you thinking about the music and not about running. Enjoy!

I just wanted to say thank you for doing this contest because I had so much fun. This is the first time I have downloaded songs and I did not know how easy it was to find old songs that I could barely rember. It has got me using parts of my brain that I do not think I have used for awhile. ( I know I left myself open there, but resist the urge. Ha! ) I was up till 130am last night looking online for songs. It’s been fun!

Thunderstruck – AC/DC

I grew up in the 80’s with heavy metal on the brain…..so you can’t handle my music, you weren’t even listening to hymns yet.
If you think you ipod headphones wouldn’t explode, I’ll send you a list.
